6 Creative Rabbit Holes For Isolation

If you are in isolation due to the Coronavirus, bad weather, or simply because you don’t like being around people, here are my favorite creative rabbit holes to fall down.

  1. Bullet Journaling:

After having some free time this year and being too broke to buy a new planner, I started bullet journaling. It ‘s easily become my new favorite hobby and it can be completely customized. It can be as simple or as complicated as you like. I have loved using the pages to explore drawing again and to keep my days organized. I love Shayda Campbell’s artful approach and this Youtuber has excellent tips for keeping it simple and efficient.

  2. Watercolor:

I am completely novice with watercolor but I find that watching other people do it as well as doing it myself is very relaxing. I just purchased a big sheet of watercolor paper and a little travel set of paints so I can do it on the road or at home.

  3. Knitting:

I have been a knitter for most of my life but in the past couple of years I fell back in love with the hobby. I used to work for Bluprint, a subscription service company where you can learn basically any technique you could possibly imagine and buy the supplies you need. They have some awesome classes with very talented instructors. However, I also recommend We Are Knitters and Wool and The Gang for contemporary patterns and kits that come with everything you need to make the project. If you are already an experienced knitter, follow me on Ravelry to see my favorite projects.

  4. Cooking:

One of my all time favorite food bloggers, The First Mess, has some of the most delicious vegan recipes and so satisfying. Her food will convert even the most dedicated meat eaters. I have also been making this viral stew and this amazing vegan version of a french classic.

  5. Calligraphy and Letter Writing:

I am located far away from my family and friends so writing letters and practicing calligraphy has been a fun way to connect while also making something beautiful. I have a wax seal and I am a bit obsessed with closing every letter like I am from the middle ages.

  6. Any Craft

will help the indoor blues feel like a treat. This company puts together new project kits every month with every craft under the sun. If you like to try your hands at everything and anything, this might be the subscription for you; not to mention the projects are actually very beautiful and not at all cheesy “crafty”. If you want to have your friends join you for a craft night they have a membership for groups as well.

Conclusion:

P.S. if you are feeling a little bummed out given the current global situation, I have put together a little self-love guide to keep your spirits high. Take care out there lovelies, we are all in this together. Oh! And, wash your damn hands!!!

Let me know in the comments what some of your favorite creative projects are right now.
