February 2021 Moodboard + Playlist
February,
Venus is calling
Although this may be the shortest month of the year, February has the power for potent possibilities and magic. This month is usually associated with love, given that Valentine's Day (as problematic as it may be) lies in the middle. I don't care for the holiday much but I would like to dedicate this month to the planet of Venus! Venus rules love, creativity, sensuality, and peace. This is also the month of the Astrological sign of Aquarius and of course, it's Black History Month.
I love the way all of these special elements come together in a magic potion. Aquarius is all about the collective consciousness and a somewhat rebellious need for freedom. With Venus and Valentines on our minds, this is a great opportunity to check in with ourselves and think about the people and things that we hold near and dear to our hearts. It's like a gooey, amped up month of gratitude. And when we apply those principles to ourselves we get the chance to love ourselves too.
When we can radiate, those around us radiate. And when we bring collective consciousness, love, and gratitude together with Black History Month, this feels like a beautiful opportunity to make profound change. We can donate our time, our energy, and our money to the causes that make a difference and that allow those around us to radiate too.
Intentions This Month:
My intentions for this month are to connect more deeply with my sensuality, creativity, and deeper layers of myself. I have started a month-long meditation course and have been waking up at 5:30 every morning to participate in a Kundalini practice.
I have also been thinking a lot about color and my relationship with it after taking a class with Aura Wear. The color I am meditating on this month is Red. This color can mean a lot of different things to different people but when I see the color red I think of grounded energy, passion, embodied sensuality, and creativity. These are all energies I have been trying to connect with lately as I have felt a little disconnected from my body and stuck in my creative efforts.
Tarot Pull:
From the Animal Spirit Deck: the Nightingale: Speaks freely with kindness and sings when in balance but when out of balance they can be shy with a lump in their throat. To bring yourself back into balance, play music.
Favorite Things This Month:
This jewelry designer based in Rotterdam creates some of the most sensual pieces of adornment. I pierced a second hole in my ear just so that I can someday wear one of her threaded earrings. There is something magical about wearing handcrafted pieces. And if you let them sit next to your candles, you can charge them up with your mindful energy. https://www.monocrafft.com/en/
One of my favorite ways to connect with myself is to put on something I feel beautiful in and dance by myself. This is an incredible way to honor Venus and the practice to help you find confidence and creative energy. This lingerie is a work of art but if that's not your thing, dancing naked is incredibly therapeutic as well. https://tisjadamen.com/home/
This organic skincare brand is based in Colorado and its products are incredibly clean and effective. Their body oil is so deliciously smooth and their special Craft Series that are released seasonally smell ahhhhmazing. I have the Sacred Rose oil made with Rose and Palo Santo and I wear it for very special occasions when I want to feel seductive and beautiful. https://osmiaorganics.com/collections/serums-oils/products/unscented-body-oil
Cap Beauty created a cookbook a couple of years ago that has some of the most nutrient-dense and delicious recipes. The book is a work of art with yummy imagery, magical recipes for each season, rituals, and a lot of good DIY skincare recipes. https://www.capbeauty.com/products/high-vibrational-beauty-recipes-rituals-for-radical-self-care
