May 2022 Moodboard + Playlist
May, for heading the call of the rebel
This month is ruled by Venus, our favorite planet and goddess. This planet is known for love, creativity, and sensuality. We are honoring Venus this month with a moodboard and color palette that carries an attitude. The color palette this month is simple and bold with a pop of color amongst neutrals. This brand inspiration is ideal for any business with a rebellious spirit or is challenging the status quo such as an advocacy group, a blogger or magazine that speaks up for political issues, or anyone who is out to change their industry.
The Archetype of the Month
This month we are embodying the Rebel Archetype (or the Destroyer) from the Kim Krans’ Archetype Deck. This archetype allows us to challenge the status quo and disrupt systems that have been enforced upon us. In light of recent events in the U.S. about the overturning of Roe V. Wade, this is a timely and appropriate archetype for fighting for our bodily rights.
The lightest expression:
Going against the grain to create big changes in our life
The darkest expression:
Self-destructive, negative, and unwilling to cooperate with others
Benefits:
In order to create, we must first destroy what is already there. This is an integral part of the creative process. The rebel allows us to make bold moves without fear and understand that sometimes being an outsider allows us to have a fresh and useful perspective.
Ways to embrace the rebel archetype
Write a manifesto about what you rebel against and pin it to your wall where you can see it. Often this archetype helps light a fire within us to make big things happen. What are the causes that you fight for?
Make paradoxical moves. When we flip old processes on their heads and try doing them in a different way, new opportunities present themselves. Where in your life can you do something that feels out of the ordinary in order to create the greatest change?
Black is maybe an obvious color choice for the rebel but wearing any color that stands out from the crowd carries rebel energy.
Rebels we are embodying: Frida Kahlo, Greta Thunberg, Zoë KravitzLearn more about this archetype here in our Jungian Archetypes Self-Portrait Series.
Tarot Pull
From the Animal Spirit Deck: The Crocodile: This card presents itself when we need to take a step back and have some time to cool off. This card combined with the Rebel or the Destroyer archetype is interesting because it signifies that rather than getting heated or bad-tempered as the rebel sometimes can, we should give ourselves time to retreat and work on our big projects in silence in order to release them when the time is right. We are heading into eclipse season and Mercury Retrograde—astrologically speaking this is not an opportune time to launch projects, but rather focus on the back end of our business and optimize our systems.
