July 2021 Moodboard + Playlist

July,
emotional, moody, and feminine

This month is ruled by the Moon which may push you to get in tune with your softer side. The moon is also known for affecting our mood and divine feminine energy. To riff off of the beautiful watery forces of the moon, July's moodboard is filled with a calming and cool color palette perfect for a brand that wants to communicate a soothing message. Blues often represent healing and intuition so I would recommend this brand inspiration for a healer or business in the wellness sector.

Vision for the Month:

This month’s planetary ruling means it is filled with watery emotions and big moods.

My vision for July is to transform my emotionality into creative production. This could look like painting, dancing, writing a poem, or taking a photograph. These creative actions will be for myself and for the simple joy of the process. I recently read that in order to get our pre-Covid energy back we should engage in activities that bring us joy. I love the metaphor of being like the river which is always flowing no matter what, sometimes fast and sometimes slow, and even if only because it feels good.

How will you approach this energy of the Moon?

Tarot Pull:

From the Animal Spirit Deck: The Camel: Just as the camel is able to store water on its back for long journies, we must also be responsible for our well-being. It is time to take responsibility and to also bring opposites into balance. We have the power to be the mediator within the contrast and see both sides of the story with an open mind.

Favorite Things This Month:

  1. If you have yet to see this film, I cannot recommend A Promising Young Woman enough. I keep thinking about it and Carrie Mulligan was made for this role. This is the female-power movie we need for the summer.

  2. This fiber artist creates beautiful rugs with thought-provoking messages. Not that I need another hobby, but I am feeling inspired to pick up weaving now.

  3. This not-so-basic-bitch salad looks so refreshing for these scorching days. I am a sucker for anything pickled so I am adding this vegan dill pickle chopped salad to the meal plan this week

  4. For a particularly moody drive around town, you can add this after rain auto fragrance to your rearview mirror. If I had a car, this would be taking the front seat with me. It also comes in candle form, because who doesn't love a moody candle?

  5. I have been thinking heavily about how to reintegrate when the world is going back to "normal". This article sums up my sentiments nicely.

  6. The Good Trade has been killing it with their articles lately. This one on how to curate your personal aesthetic I found like a good starting point. I think these same techniques could be applied to choosing your brand aesthetic too.

This Month’s Playlist is aptly named ‘Emosh mosh’ because it might assist you with a big fat Cancer season cry:
