August Moodboard, Intentions, and Playlist

August, embodied creativity

This month I am feeling one part nostalgic, one part inspired, and one part playful. I have been finding joy in allowing my inner child to come out and heal some of the heavy emotions that are bubbling up in this 2020 summer season. This summer is definitely one of the most introspective and quiet summers I have ever had and I am sure I am no exception. This month's moodboard, intentions, and playlist for branding inspiration are all about deep, soulful, cooling colors with a minimalistic sense of calm and an artful edge. This brand would be ideal for a soul-centered business hoping to evoke a sense of relaxation, and spiritual depth to their ideal clients. This would be great for anyone in the healing space, a spa, or a moody creative.

Intentions This Month:

To fully embody my intuitive creativity. What does that mean? Well, I am trying to stay connected with my body through movement, dancing, singing, using all of my senses, and also by really listening deeply to what I want creatively. I have started playing with my tarot cards more, trying to establish a regular meditation practice, talking to my plants, and nurturing my inner child. I am also reading way more than usual and going down rabbit holes of research. Instead of just storing all that info into the deep recesses of my brain, I am trying to put that information into practice AKA embodiment!

Tarot Pull:

From the Animal Spirit Deck: the Golden Egg: Message at the center of the heart, the unstruck sound. Retreat from the noise of modern day life to deeply listen to become intimate with our very essence and vulnerability.

From the Illuminated Tarot Deck: The King of Diamonds: Generosity, happiness found in nature and spirituality.

Both cards this month seem to reiterate the importance of turning inward, listening to intuition, and getting quiet. Good thing there isn’t too much temptation to do anything else this summer!

Favorite Things This Month:

  1. The Dark Side of the Light Chasers: I just wrapped up a month of focused shadow work and want to gift this book to every friend and family member. We have such beautiful gifts hidden in our shadows if we are willing to confront our "dark" side.

  2. The Beekeeper's Bible: If you've never thought about honeybees or how they work, this book will blow your mind. I have been slowly learning about bees and beekeeping with the hope that one day I can have an apiary at my home.

  3. I have become obsessed with the idea of making flower essences after taking a workshop with @69herbs and @holisticism. If you are interested in making essences and doing a trade, I would be thrilled to share. Just send me a message with your address and we can exchange!

  4. Kin Euphorics: A couple of months ago I was introduced to this booze-free beverage brand and instantly fell in love with their mission and aesthetic. Serious brand inspiration here and I can't wait to try their drinks when I visit the States.

  5. Really coveting a three piece suit (my inner child really wants one, I used to steal my brother’s all the time). Behida Doliç in upstate New York just started making one named after Frida and I hope to one day being able to support her and her beautiful work.

  6. Rosiee's Rituals: I shared Rosa’s beautiful plant-dyed, moon bathed creations last month and she has just released a new set with tote bags perfect for zero waste grocery shopping. I helped her photograph her creations on the beach here in Barcelona!

  7. Mission Statements: I have been thinking a lot about the value of a meaningful mission statement, having values that come through in my work, and sharing that with the world. Check out our blog post on creating a meaningful mission statement here!
