September 2021 Moodboard + Playlist
September,
intellectual, structured, and transitory.
September is ruled by the planet Mercury which activates our intellect, our mind, rules and structures, and communications. The colors for this month are browns and earth tones and the visuals reflect structure and order. This brand inspiration would be ideal for a business with values rooted in grounded energy and structure like a therapist, a lawyer, or a coach.
Vision for the Month:
September is on the precipice of change as it finishes out one season and begins another. This is a great time to clear away unwanted energy, projects, objects that are no longer helping you on your journey. This is a time for fresh starts and stepping into the version of yourself who you have always wanted to be. A great way to gain some clarity on what you would like to brush away is to journal and meditate daily. I will be spending my month clearing out old projects, planning the next year, and packing for a move overseas.
Tarot Pull:
From the Animal Spirit Deck: The FOX Animal Spirit is a wise teacher, bearing the wisdom of the Earth element. S/he is quick to learn and adapt, skillful at business and negotiations, and an enchanting creature of mystique and ingenuity. The FOX is an ideal partner, a loyal mate, and an exciting lover. 🦊
This Spirit guide often appears when we need to find a way to reconnect to those dear to us. This archetype reminds us to stay true to those we love because the fox often becomes dysfunctional after slipping away.
WHEN IN BALANCE: magical, ingenious teacher, monogamous.
WHEN OUT OF BALANCE: sneaky, unsure of their identity.
Favorite Things This Month:
As I prepare for yet another move overseas I have been looking for a sustainable suitcase option and found a favorite. I chose the Away Suitcase because they have amazing reviews, it's a woman-owned company, and they have lifetime warranties on their bags!
I am always looking for new things to learn, especially in September, and thought this article on How to Sew Your Own Clothes has some excellent tips for getting started.
To continue taking care of the environment, buying clothing secondhand is an excellent option. This article covers how to clean and care for secondhand clothes.
If you would like to know about other ways to improve your wardrobe this season you can also learn how to create and care for a sustainable wardrobe.
Thinking about how we can find flow in the structure, I am looking for further ways to support myself and my health. Nettles are one of my favorite herbs to take care of my nervous system. You can make a simple infusion with hot water or add it to soups or stews. It has a slightly earthy flavor but is not bitter at all. It's gentle like Chamomile.
As the air begins to crisp up I am looking for more grounding foods to nourish myself. This bean recipe looks like the perfect shoulder season recipe with its carb-loaded comfort and herby freshness.
What could be a more Virgo toy than the Polly Pockets with their structured little space and contained environments? I used to love playing with these as a child and was thrilled to hear that they are going to be released again. Is 30 too old for miniature toys?
It seems like we are probably going to continue spending a lot of time at home this season so here are 87 ways to feel healthier at home.
