The Sage | 12 Jungian Archetypes Self-Portrait Series

The 12 Archetypes of personality, chosen by Carl Jung, are the foundations for characters in movies, literature, art, and the life where we live and breathe. They represent behavior patterns, cultural symbols and images of the collective unconscious. In this series, I am exploring all 12 of the archetypes through self-portraits and embodying each as I understand them within myself. I think the more time we spend with ourselves, the more we realize how multi-dimensional we are. This has been an incredible experiment for me as I have come to understand which archetypes I align with the most and which were difficult for me to “become”. Along with the portraits, I have included a playlist that represents each personality. I hope you enjoy this playful exploration!

The Sage is someone who seeks to understand the world through their intelligence and analytical mind. Their pursuit of knowledge is their driving force in life. They are free thinkers and always have a piece of information to share. I spend a lot of time in this archetype hoping to synthesize the information that I am constantly seeking out. Whenever a new topic comes to my attention, I want to know more and I want to dive into the deep end. If I am not creating something, I am likely researching, reading, or watching something in order to learn something new.

Another way I like to think about this archetype is someone who uses their intuition to inform their lives. This is another type of knowledge that can be sharpened and trained to serve us best (hence the third eye). Sages are needed to share their wisdom and intelligence in order to inform the rest of the world.
